Knitwear according to Zadig&Voltaire

Knitwear is to the origins of Zadig&Voltaire what freedom is to the spirit of the House. Without it, we could not tell the story of the brand as we do today, nearly thirty years after its birth. Without it, the House’s signature slouch, that subtle blend of impertinence, elegance and nonchalance, would never have come to be.

The words of knitwear
Knit, Sleeves
The knitwear crafted by Zadig&Voltaire, through know-how that is both unique and singular, was designed to be as soft as a second skin, with an almost airy knit and very long sleeves that keep you warm and peek out from under jackets: this distinctive sign was the first concrete expression of Zadig&Voltaire’s nonchalant allure.

Raw edge, Loose gauge
The invention of the “raw edge” gave the House’s allure a “destroy” spirit, inherited from 1970s British punk fashion. Done by hand on noble materials such as cashmere or merino, this technique – like the “loose gauge”, which heightens the “well-worn sweater” effect – sharpened the contrast between precious materials and a deliberately worn look, between softness to the touch and a rebellious spirit that refuses to bow to dictates.

Intarsia, Jacquard knit
Crafted this way, knitwear has become emblematic of Zadig&Voltaire. Through intarsia and knitted Jacquard, Zadig&Voltaire brought to ready-to-wear a quality of knit that did not exist until then: a way of wearing a sweater that combines, without compromise, comfort and authentic style.

Cashmere
Yet it is through the nobility of cashmere that Zadig&Voltaire found its essential playground, allowing it to express its style, to innovate and to offer its own vision of luxury.
